The skipper is the helmsman of a regatta or racing yacht, or the captain of a pleasure boat, whether on the high seas or not. He or she is responsible for steering the boat.
For this 10th edition of the Vendée Globe, there will be 40 skippers setting off on November 10, 2024. That's seven more than the previous record for the 2020-2021 edition.
